Nicole Huesman

Community & Developer Advocate
For over 20 years, Nicole Huesman has applied her aptitude in storytelling to the technology industry—helping shine a light on the importance and impact of the work of her engineering colleagues. She dove into the world of open source seven years ago, and quickly became a strong advocate—from the embedded market to the cloud to web technologies.

She is passionate about cultivating inclusive communities that welcome diverse perspectives and invite intelligent, thoughtful debate. As an active member of the open source community, she participates in the CHAOSS Project's Diversity & Inclusion Work Group, which aims to establish a consistent definition and set of metrics for diversity that can be used across communities. She helps facilitate mentoring workshops, participates in diversity- and mentor-related panel discussions, and authors blogs on these topics. Nicole also volunteers for the Women Who Code Portland organization as a writer/blogger.

Nicole has held senior marketing positions at technology companies including Intel and Tektronix. She graduated from the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism, and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Marylhurst University, with an emphasis in Marketing.
