Do you know what your project is going to be when it grows up? Each open source project is unique and can range from a simple script to a flagship type of project that drives a whole industry such as Kubernetes. In our talk we will give you the guidelines we have cultivated and implemented to help your company and project leads determine what type of backing your project needs.

It is important to have a framework in place to help make informed decisions on IP, marketing, branding, management, legal, and resourcing. Without this you are liable to make incorrect decisions. Not everything will be a big thing and that’s OK. You can make sure your expectations are inline with your designs for the project and what the community is going to glom to. Our tiering system we designed and implemented minimizes misdirection, missed expectations, and ensure the right resources are invested.
