Average daily commits on your project just went up by 0.75! Should you be excited, depressed, or indifferent? Who knows?

In the world of community stats, especially for GitHub-based communities, there's a lot of focus on reporting raw numbers, but less on turning those numbers in to actionable knowledge. In this presentation, we will go over the open source DevStats platform for GitHub community stats, and discuss how the Kubernetes project uses DevStats to identify problems, verify initiative results, and monitor community health.

We'll also talk about how you can run DevStats for your project, and the current work we're doing to improve community intelligence by creating higher-order metrics. If you have a "GitOps" project, you'll be able to make use of what DevStats offers, and if not, we'll discuss how to move beyond raw numbers in a way that's applicable to any platform.
