We are living in an era of explosive growth of Open Source projects. Developers love Open Source because it offers an exciting environment for them to innovate and collaborate with talents outside of their own company. Vendors love Open Source because it offers additional channels for them to acquire the latest technologies, and build/engage the ecosystem. Users love Open Source because of the promise of “no vendor lock-in”, which protects their investments. However, the devil is in the details. In this talk, we will explore the challenges of taking open source projects into commercial environments, and propose solutions on how we, the Open Source community, can increase the value of Open Source projects, shorten the time to value, and make Open Source a crucial part of Enterprise IT.
