Open Source Software is everywhere and has formed the backbone of the software supply chain. With this firstly, there is a need for organizations to know what OSS is being used (brought in and shipped out) Secondly, organizations need to discover the license and security obligations around its usage. And thirdly, there is a bigger need to define a compliance program that works well within an organization to effectively discover, manage and remediate both licensing and security risks. Indira and Gwyn will review current trends in OSS usage, legal implications, compliance lessons learned from past Tech Due Diligence transactions. Indira will also talk about how leveraging the OpenChain Specification and using OSS maturity assessments, checklists and tooling to help begin establishing governance and organizational structure to enable the formation of a successful compliance program.
