With the spread of modern programing languages and containers, there are more and more external dependencies are built to the software products. Most of these dependencies are open source thanks to the boom of the open source development in the recent decade. A proper check of the added open source dependencies requires a solution to the following problems:
- Identification of the used open source components
- Identification of the license of the open source components
- Collection of the source code of the open source components (even if they are pulled in a binary form)
- Policy based decision framework
- Collection of license texts and source code
In this presentation I will outline an ideal toolchain, I will map the different functionalities to existing open source tools and identify missing features from the pieces of the toolchain.
